FAIRLEIGH DISAPPOINTING

FDU is handling their coaching search as poorly as they did the dismissal of former coach Tom Green.  If you remember correctly, they fired Green after 26 years in early June of the school year.  Interim coach Greg Vetrone was told he would have a full season to prove himself and have a chance as one of the final candidates at the end of the season.  Vetrone exceeded expectations this season in NEC play and did a very good job with the team……despite the fact that FDU’s administration made it as difficult as possible to work without being distracted.  They have been interviewing candidates for the past 2 months and the leader appears to be Tom Barrise.  Barrise has spent the past decade as a scout and assistant coach with the New Jersey Nets.  He was the interim coach of the Nets for 2 games after they fired Lawrence Frank mid-season.

FDU showed no class and could have let Vetrone finish the season before they began the process.  Number 1, it’s the right thing to do….Number 2, why not consider hiring Vetrone?….and Number 3, is there that much of rush to hire a soon to be fired assistant coach/scout from one of the worst teams in NBA history?

Just asking, what do you guys think?

*And speaking of metropolitan area coaches - the NY Times is coming out with a huge piece this Sunday on a local coach and it’s not going to pretty from what I hear.  Stay tuned.
